Every indoor water fountain in our line includes a high quality pump, and these pumps will run for years with proper care.

Please follow these simple guidelines:

NEVER EVER RUN THE PUMP DRY!

The pumps we use in our indoor water fountains should only be used while COMPLETELY submersed in water. Water helps to cool the pump and prevent damage from overheating. More than 90% of pump failures are caused by running the pump dry. Excessively low water levels, frequently turning the fountain on and off, and poor fountain maintenance will shorten your pump's life span. Every pump that comes with our indoor water fountains has a twelve month warranty, but only if maintained properly.

Run Your Pump Continuously
Your indoor water fountain will function best if you let the pump run continuously. Of course, if you plane to leave your indoor water fountain unattended for any extended period, you will need to turn it off.

If Your Pump Makes Noise
The first thing to check is to make sure that the pump is fully submerged. Then also check whether the pump is vibrating against the wall of the reservoir. Placing a piece of sponge or shelf liner (Griptex Wonderliner works good) under the pump will keep it from contacting the side of the reservoir and making noise.

If Your Pump Stops Working
If you haven't been running your pump without water, then there is most likely air trapped inside the pump (caused by turning the pump off and on frequently). If this is case, try the following fixes:

Unplug and plug in the fountain several times in succession to prime the pump and get it started. If that doesn’t work...
Plug in the pump, then quickly lift it out of the water and place it back. This should give the pump a little jump start. If you're still having problems...
Plug the pump in and submerge it. Then, take the pump out of the water, and either hit it with your hand or tap it against a hard surface (not your fountain) to jar the impeller loose.
If all else fails, follow the manufacturers’ instructions to disassemble and clean the pump.
